Box Score 2 BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to cross-Bronx rival Mt. St. Vincent on Thursday, 18-0, and 8-5. The road games were played on Lehman College's South Field.
In Game One, the Lightning (8-11) faced CMSV's ace, and managed just three base runners. Lehman starting pitcher
Arlette Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Newtown) reached base twice, with a leadoff walk in the first, and a single in the third inning.
In the second game, senior
Ashley Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership Academy) and sophomore
Linda Resto (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman HS) each had RBI in the first inning, as Lehman jumped ahead, 2-0. After CMSV (12-17) took a 4-2 lead, sophomore pitcher
Meghan Bravo (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) singled to bring home two more runs in the third inning, knotting the score at four runs apiece.
An inning later, Resto reached on an infield error, as Williams came around to score, putting Lehman ahead, 5-4. But the Dolphins would plate two runs in the fifth, and two insurance runs in the sixth, for the 8-5 win.
Up next for the Lightning is a Sunday doubleheader at St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn.
