Softball Concludes Season With Loss to John Jay in First Round of CUNYAC Championships

Box Score
PURCHASE, N.Y. – The #5 Lehman College softball team had its 2015 season come to an end with a loss to #4 John Jay, 11-1, in the opening round of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championships, on the campus of Manhattanville College on Wednesday afternoon. The Bloodhounds have advanced to the double-elimination round and will battle #1 the College of Staten Island, on Friday at 12:00 p.m.

The Lightning (9-15) scored their only run of the game, in the top of the first, thanks to an RBI double off the bat of senior first baseman Ashley Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership Academy), that scored sophomore second baseman Arlette Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Newtown). Martinez led off the inning with a single and ended up stealing second.

John Jay countered by scoring five runs in the bottom frame, three runs in the second, and just as many in the third to blow the game open.

In the circle, sophomore pitcher Meghan Bravo (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) took the loss, giving up six earned runs on eight hits, while striking out two batters in four innings pitched.
