Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's soccer team opened the CUNY Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a convincing victory over York, 7-0, on the South Field on Wednesday evening. The Lightning are now 5-1 overall, which is the best start in the history of the program, and 1-0 in conference play.
Six different Lightning players scored goals. Freshman midfielder
Chelsey Harris (Bronx, N.Y./Cayon) led the way with two goals and two assists. Sophomore
Lillian Barreto (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) produced a goal and an assist.
The Lightning scored two goals in the first half, and then exploded for five more in the second. The Blue and Gold put pressure on the Cardinals' defense throughout the match.
Barreto opened the scoring by taking a feed from Harris, and tapping the ball into the net to put the Lightning up, 1-0, with 2:23 remaining in the opening half. With just 26 seconds left in the first stanza, Harris found the back of the net, on an assist from Barreto, to extend Lehman's lead to 2-0.
In the second half, the Lightning took complete control of the match, by scoring five goals in a span of 12:37. Harris scored her second goal of the match, while senior forward

Daisy Gomez (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester), sophomore midfielder
Gredia Sanchez-Espejel (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers), and junior midfielder
Daisy Narvaez (New York, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) each produced a goal.
Lehman outshot York 40-2. Sophomore goalkeeper
Stephanie Gonzalez (Yonkers, N.Y./Gorton) recorded one save to earn her third shutout of the season.
The Lightning will have another CUNYAC contest on Saturday, against the College of Staten Island on the South Field, beginning at 2:30 p.m.Â
