Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's soccer team earned the Hudson Classic Championship, by knocking off New Jersey City University in the Championship game, by a score of 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Lightning are now 3-0 in the regular season for the first time in program history.

Chelsey Harris (Bronx, N.Y./Cayon), and freshman midfielder
Michelle Reyes Ruiz (Bronx, N.Y./Valhalla) each tallied goals for Lehman.

The Lightning scored their first three goals in a span of 3:48. Reyes Ruiz opened the scoring by gaining possession of the loose ball off a corner kick by sophomore midfielder
Gredia Sanchez-Espejel (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers), and drilling it into the back of the net to give Lehman a 1-0 lead.

Just one minute later, Harris tallied her fourth goal of the season, by chipping the shot under the bar and into the cage to give the Lightning a two-goal advantage. Just under three minutes later, Generoso dribbled the ball and shot it inside the near post to give the Lightning a three-goal cushion. That would be the score going into halftime.

Just over seven minutes into the second half, Barreto launched the ball from 40-yards out and into the net to give Lehman an insurance goal. The Lightning went on to win, 4-0.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Stephanie Gonzalez (Yonkers, N.Y./Gorton) earned her second shutout of the season by stopping all four shots on goal she faced. Lehman outshot New Jersey City, 20-10.

The Lightning will return home on Tuesday, for a non-conference match with SUNY Purchase, at 7:00 p.m.Â
