Lightning Earn First Conference Victory….Defeat John Jay 120-86

Bronx, NY - It's been more than three weeks since the Lightning faced an opponent in the swimming pool and the layoff served them well.  Fresh off a training trip to Florida, the Lehman women's swimming and diving team earned their first conference victory of the season downing John Jay 120-86.

Jessica Reynoso continued her stellar season by winning two events and anchoring the 200 yard medley relay to victory.  Reynoso posted a 1:13.15 in the 100 yard breast stroke to capture first place.  She followed that up with a victory in the 200 IM in a time of 2:27.06 more than 22 seconds faster than her closest competitor.

Melody Ovalles was also a double winner, as she earned victory in the 200 free (2:21.46) and 100 back (1:11.12). Ovalles also swam the lead –off leg in the 200 Medley relay that Lehman won.

Other winners for Lehman included Angela Mejia in the 100 Free (1:01.24) and Gabriela Rodriguez who captured gold in each of the diving disciplines.

Lehman will have a frantic schedule in the coming days as the Lightning will compete in three more meets over the next six days.  On Thursday the Lightning host Baruch before traveling to William Paterson on Saturday and York next Tuesday.  .
