Lightning Top Medgar Evers on Senior Day, 7-0

Bronx, N.Y. -- The Lehman College women's soccer team jumped out early in the game, and defeated Medgar Evers College, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the South Field.

Before the game, the Lightning (7-5-1, 3-1-0 CUNYAC) celebrated Senior Day for the eight total seniors on the team. They include Arlette Martinez, Linda Resto, Princess Champagnie, Emily Szlachta, Daisy Narvaez, Yessica Estrella, Renee Taylor, and Selina Paulino. They were honored in a pregame ceremony with plaques, framed jerseys and flowers for the families as President Jose Luis Cruz and Dr. Martin L. Zwiren took pictures with them.

Daisy Gomez secured the team's first goal in the ninth minute of the game and an assist. Lillian Barreto chipped in with a goal and an assist of her own in the win. Chelsey Harris notched her team-leading 10th goal in the 10th minute, while Resto, Champagnie, Szlachta and Narvaez each netted their first goals of the season.

The Lightning return to action Wednesday night, when they face CUNYAC foe John Jay College. Start time at the South Field at 5:30 p.m. Live stats and streaming video will be made available on LehmanAthletics.com.
