Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – The Lehman women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Bard (7-25) to conclude their 2016 season. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Lightning. Lehman ends the season with a record of 6-18.
The Lightning dropped the first set 25-13 but rallied to win the second set 27-25. Lehman came out of the short side in the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-19.
Sally Gonzalez led Lehman with 11 kills off of 46 attacks.
Samantha Delgado recorded 25 assists and 12 digs.
In the first set, the Raptors jumped out to a 7-1 lead and never looked back cruising to a 225-13 victory. In the second, with the Lightning leading 19-14, Bard ran off 10 straight points to take a 24-19 lead. However, the Lightning would then score the next five points to knot the set at 24. After a side out by the Raptors, Lehman ran off three straight points to prevail. To start the third, the Lightning jumped out to a 7-1 lead but could not hold on as Bard won the set 25-20. In the fourth set, Lehman again had the early lead. Trailing 12-6, Bard went on an 8-1 run to take a lead they would not surrender; going on to win 25-19.
Bard concludes their season this weekend at the Oneonta Tournament.
