Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's and women's swimming and diving teams kicked off their home portion of the schedule with their first respective wins against the College of New Rochelle Saturday afternoon at the APEX Aquatic Center.
The women's team (1-1) secured their first victory of the 2016-17 campaign with a 104-95 win over the Blue Angels. Among the top performers were
Angela Mejia, who grabbed a first-place victory in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:08.95. She also finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a finals time of 6:20.45 then first in the 200-yard freestyle with 2:14.27.
Yaidee Nieves took a first place finish with a 1:20.65 time in the 100-yard breaststroke. She then secured second place in both the 200-yard individual medley at 2:53.23 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:10.29.
The Lightning men's team (1-1) earned a 96-69 win over New Rochelle. Top finishers include Chris Fischer, who won the 200-yard freestyle at 1:57.47. Fischer also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle at 54.40.
Other top performers included
Dominique Herrera, who endured to take the 1000-yard freestyle at 15:28.72.
Ryan Sanchez took first place in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.79, followed by
Francis Turbi in second at 26.68.
Adam Acevedo finished on top in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.99 seconds.
Up next for the Lightning is a road matchup against the College at Old Westbury Wednesday night. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
