Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's and women's swimming and diving teams worked together as a collective unit as they swept Purchase College Saturday afternoon at the APEX Aquatic Center. The men won 128.5-85.5 and the women prevailed 109.5-86.5.
The men's team (3-1) cruised to a 128.5-85.5 victory over the Panthers. Among the top performers today were
Christopher Fischer, who finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.45. Fischer would also claim the 100-yard freestyle at 55.17.
Adam Acevedo earned a first-place win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.58, while also securing the 100-yard butterfly at 58.47.
Juan Toribio earned the best scores in the 3-meter and 1-meter dives with final marks of 176.33 and 187.58, respectively. The team of Acevedo, Chad Padayogdog,
Ryan Sanchez and Fischer took the men's 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:40.47.
On the women's side (2-2),
Angela Mejia continued her outstanding performance all year as she took first in the 200-yard IM going way at 2:28.08. She then captured the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.91, while
Christina Hitchman finished in a tie for second at 59.46.
Hitchman would then grab first-place win in the 50-yard freestyle at 29.35 followed by
Yaidee Nieves in second at 30.05. Nieves won the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:19.55, then the 'A' team of
Teresa Hernandez,
Alexis Vasquez,
Katia Galindo and Hitchman won the 200-yard freestyle relay at 2:14.07.
Up next for the teams is a road matchup on November 29th when they face off with Hunter College. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
