Lightning Take Two From Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY - The Lightning won both ends of a doubleheader against CUNYAC rival Brooklyn  College (0-6:0-4).  Lehman (3-11:2-4) scored three runs in the top of the seventh to win the first game 6-4.  In the nightcap the Lightning cruised to a 9-1 victory.
 
In game one, Linda Resto and Natasha Minier each stroked a pair of hits to lead the Lightning.  Meghan Bravo went the distance while striking out 9 and only giving up one earned run. 

The Bulldogs scored two unearned runs in their first at bat and the Lightning had an up hill battle.  Lehman got on the score board in the second after manufacturing a run with two outs.  In the third the Lightning were able to tie the game.  Linda Resto led off the frame with a triple to right field and scored on an error.  The Bulldogs plated a run in the fourth and fifth innings take a 4-2 lead.  In the sixth, the Lightning also manufactured a run.  Almanzar delivered a lead off single and was quickly on third after a stolen base and a wild pitch.  She later scored on a ground out.  Resto led off the top of the last with a single and quickly stole second.  Bravo then knocked a single to score Resto: tying the game 4.  Bravo advanced to second on the throw home.  Lehman found themselves down to their final out after a pair of fly outs.  Minier then delivered a single and advanced to second while Bravo made her way to third.  Almanzar was able to reach on a fielder's choice to score Bravo.  Lora also knocked a single to score Minier for the games final run.

Lehman belted out 11 hits including extra base knocks by Resto (triple) and doubles by Bravo and Genesis Paulino.  Lehman was also credited with six stolen bases. 

In game two the Lightning also prevailed.  Karina Lora went 3-for-4 with two RBI.  Minier and Yaidee Nieves also had two hits and scored two runs.  Paulino was credited with four RBI.  Bravo again went the distance to record her third win of the season.  The Pearl River native, struck out 12 and allowed only four hits.  Lehman was once again crafty on the bases as the Lightning were credited with eight stolen bases. 

The Lightning plated two runs in the top of the first.  Arlette Martinez led off the game with a single and stole second and third.  Chariny Graciano single scored Martinez.  Paulino reached on an error to score Graciano.  The Bulldogs manufactured a run in the second to cut the Lehman advantage in half.  The game stayed at 2-1 until the fourth inning.  The Lightning were able to push their advantage back up to two when Lora's single scored Nieves.  In the sixth, Lehman plated four runs on three hits to take control.  The Lightning added two more in the seventh for the final margin of victory.  Bravo struck out the final seven batters she faced. 

The wins snap a ten game skid and are the Lightnings first conference victories of the season. 

Lehman will return to action on Tuesday, April 5th.  The Dolphins of Mt. St. Vincent will make the trip across the Bronx to the South Field for a 5:00 PM double header.
