BRONX, NY --- Senior pitcher
Meghan Bravo (Pearl River, NY / Pearl River) struck out 16 over a combined 10 innings as the Lehman College softball team swept the visiting College of New Rochelle on Monday in their regular season finale at the South Field on the Lehman College campus. The Lightning of Lehman (9-17) took the first game, 11-2, then shutout the Blue Angels of New Rochelle (4-18), 18-0. Both games were five inning contests.

Bravo, who entered the day with 85 strikeouts on the season, set a Lehman single-season record in the top of the first inning of game two when she ended the frame on a strikeout looking. She was immediately mobbed by her teammates and coaches in celebration, then finished the game with a shutout. Her current season total and new Lehman record is 101 strikeouts.

Prior to the game, Bravo was recognized by coaches, teammates and fans as the sole senior on this year's team as part of Senior Day. Bravo has been the Lightning's staff ace the past three seasons, and this year has pitched 87.4 percent of Lehman's innings.

From the leadoff spot, junior
Arlette Martinez (Brooklyn, NY / Newtown) had a great day for the Lightning, combining to go two-for-three with four runs-batted-in with three runs scored and four walks.
Freshman third baseman
Yzaira Galan (Yonkers, NY / Saunders) had three hits and three RBI while junior
Linda Resto (Bronx, NY / Lehman HS) scored four runs and had three hits.

The first game saw Lehman score all 11 of their runs in the bottom of the first inning, then hold on for the victory. The highlight came in the top of the first when, after the Angels loaded the bases with no outs, Bravo struck out three straight to shut down the threat. In game two, Lehman belted out 11 hits and drew eight walks. Â

Lehman will be back on the field on Wednesday when they play the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the play-in game of the CUNYAC Championships at Randall's Island. Tip-off will be at 4:00 p.m.
