Gabe Lorenzo talks with Chris Fischer after the meet
Bronx, NY - The Lightning competing for the second time in three days fell to the Pioneers of William Paterson in the APEX Pool earlier today. William Paterson men prevailed 119-112 over Lehman. The Pioneer women also came out on top 123-84.
Chris Fischer was the stand out performer for the Lightning. The sophomore from Yonkers won two events and was part of a victorious relay. Fischer posted a 1:53.71 in the 200 freestyle as well as a 51.92 to win the 100 freestyle. Fischer also swam the anchor leg of the 200 Medley Relay to grab gold for the Lightning.
Juan Toribio also had a strong meet winning the 1 meter and 3 meter diving events. Toribio earned 173.35 in his six dives from the 1 m board. The junior from the Bronx followed that up with 176.20 points from the 3 m board. He also swam the anchor leg of the 200 free relay that was victorious.
Francis Turbi took the top spot in the 100 yard breast and swam the breast stroke leg of the 200 medley relay that took home the gold.
On the women's side,
Yaidee Nieves led the way with a victory in the 100 breast stroke. Nieves, a three sport athlete, posted a time of 1:20.63.
Christina Hitchman garnered second in the event.
Belkys Perez took home silver in the 1000 yard freestyle.
Gabriela Rodriguez captured second place in the 1 meter diving event after posting a 131.10.
The Lightning return to action on Tuesday to face York College. The meet is schedule to start at 6:00 pm in the APEX Pool.
