Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted a CUNYAC meet with York (N.Y.), and both were victorious at the APEX Aquatic Center Tuesday night. The men's team won, 93-73, and the women defeated the Cardinals, 90-57.
The top performers for the men's team (4-5, 1-2 CUNYAC) were
Ryan Sanchez who took first place in the 1000-yard freestyle at 12:30.61. Sanchez also took first in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:57.02.
Adam Acevedo took the top spot at the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.52) and 100-yard butterfly events (57.61), while
Christopher Fischer secured a time of 24.75 in the 50-yard freestyle.
Fischer was also the top performer in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:04.45. In the diving portion,
Juan Toribio earned the top scores in both the 1-meter (176.55) and 3-meter events (189.90).
Francis Turbi earned first in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.87.
On the women's side (3-7, 1-3 CUNYAC), the 200-yard medley relay team of Teresa Hernandez, Christina Hitchman, Alexis Vasquez and Belkys Perez earned first at 2:36.41. Angela Mejia grabbed a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, while also earning first place in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:16.79.
Jessica Reynoso secured a first-place nod in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.75, while Yaidee Nieves finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:24.80. The relay team for the 200-yard freestyle relay of Mejia, Perez, Gabriela Rodriguez and Olubunmi Oladele finished at 2:16.79 which was good for first place.
The next meet for the women is Friday night on the road at CUNYAC foe John Jay at 6:00 p.m. The men return to action next Wednesday January 25th as part of a meet with Brooklyn College men's and women's team at home. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
