Lightning Earns CUNYAC Win Over John Jay

New York, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's swimming and diving team traveled on the road and emerged victorious over CUNYAC foe John Jay, 57-37, Friday night at the John Jay Pool.

The Lightning (4-7, 2-3 CUNYAC) have now won two straight meets, both of them in conference. Among the notable finishers were Yaidee Nieves, who won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:48.51. She also victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.97) and was part of the 200-yard medley relay with Angela Mejia, Christina Hitchman and Belkys Perez at 2:17.65.

Along with the relay win, Mejia won the 200-yard IM going away with a time of 2:33.13 and also the 100-yard backstroke at 1:10.63. Hitchman took first in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 29.09 and 1:07.65, respectively. Katia Galindo earned a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, crossing the line at 18:26.08 for the win.

Lehman returns to action Wednesday night back at the APEX Aquatic Center, hosting CUNYAC opponent Brooklyn College. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
