Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team used a second-half marker to help earn a draw and extend its unbeaten streak to four matches after a 1-1 tie at Old Westbury on Tuesday. The Lightning are now 9-3-1 overall.
The Panthers got on the board first, scoring in the seventh minute after a loose ball wasn't caromed in by the Lehman defense. The score stayed at 1-0 into the half.
Lehman evened the score at 52:17, in a familiar fashion.
Nabi Ben Bangoura played a ball through to
Eduardo Victorio, who was one-on-one with the goalie. He beat the keeper and tied the game at 1-1. The score stayed there and eventually the game went into overtime.
Kastriot Qerimi had a shot in the 93
rd minute, but it was wide of the net. In the second overtime, the team mustered four shots, with another Qerimi attempt on target. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The goal that the Lightning conceded in the 7
th minute, was the first goal they allowed in the last four plus games. The time between their last goal (against Ramapo at 89:23) and the goal against Old Westbury was 277 minutes and 13 seconds, or 4:37.13.
The Lehman College men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 14, when they travel to Staten Island to face the Dolphins at noon.
