Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Goes Perfect in Conference Play with 2-0 Blanking of Medgar Evers

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team put the fait accompli on an already remarkable season with a 2-0 shutout of Medgar Evers in a CUNYAC game played at the South Field in the Bronx on Wednesday.  The victory improved the team to 11-3-1 overall and an even more impressive, 8-0 in conference play.  The Lightning perfect mark in the CUNYAC was underscored by the fact that they didn't concede any goals in conference play.

Lehman goalie, Chris Mulholland was tested barely two minutes into action, but the sophomore made the change to help record the Lightning's tenth shutout of the season.  They have outscored their opponents, 34-10.

Lehman got on the board in the 40th minute.  On a free kick, Adewale Adewusi blasted a pass to the far post where Salh Alzubidi redirected it past the keeper for his conference-best, 15th goal of the season.  The score was 1-0 at the half.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Lightning struck again.  Adewusi was on the spot again, lifting a ball from the right side into the middle of the box.  Mamadou Talla leapt and got a head to it, putting the ball off a Cougars defender and into the goal for the second marker of the game.  Lehman went on to win, 2-0.  The victory brought the team's unbeaten streak to six games, and cemented its place atop the CUNYAC standings.

The Lehman College men's soccer team closes out the regular-season on Saturday, October 21, when they welcome NYU back to the Bronx.  The game is the second of a doubleheader with the women and kickoff will take place at 3:00 PM.  The Senior Day ceremonies will take place prior to kickoff.
