Men's Cross Country

All In-Season Teams in Action Today

All six of Lehman's in-season intercollegiate teams will be in action today.  The women's soccer team hosts York at 11:00 AM while the men's team is scheduled to host John Jay at 1:20 PM.  Both cross country teams will be participating in t eh NJIT Highlander Challenge.  Women's tennis will travel to York to face the Cardinals at noon in a CUNYAC match.  The volleyball squad will travel out to Patchogue, NY to battle St. Joseph's (LI) at noon. 

Coach Casey Melilli and her women's soccer team come into today's contest with a record of 4-6-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.  The last time the Lightning took to the field was seven days ago when they downed Mt. St. Vincent 3-0 in the Battle of the Bronx.  Daniela Castro netted a pair of goals and Lillian Barreto also found the back of the net for the three Lightning tallies.  Net minder Rebecca Gritz recorded the fourth shutout of her career stopping four Dolphin shots.   The Cardinals have been struggling all season.  York enters the game with a 1-9 mark having dropped their last nine.  Fans unable to make the trip to campus can catch all of the action on line via live stats and live stream.

The men's team has won six of their last seven and stand tied with John Jay atop the CUNYAC standings.  Lehman (8-3:5-0) has not allowed a goal in a conference game.  In Lehman's last two games the Lightning won by the identical score of 5-0 over Baruch and York.  The Bloodhounds have won their last four; all conference games, and own a 6-4:5-0 record.  Lehman's Salh Alzubidi leads the league in scoring with 13 goals.  John Jay's Mark Shnadshteyn ranks second with 10.  Fans unable to make the trip to campus can catch all of the action on line via live stats and live stream.  The game is scheduled to kick-off at 1:30 PM on the South Field.

The volleyball squad looks to snap a five match skid as they travel to Patchogue, NY to face St. Joseph's (LI).  Lehman (2-15) is led by Caitlin Vernon, Samantha Delgado and Paulette Sepulveda.  Vernon leads the team with 77 kills and Delgado has recorded a team high 165 assists.  Sepulveda has been credited with 120 digs and 26 service aces.  Fans unable to make the trip out to Long Island can follow all of the action on line via live stats and live stream.

The tennis team will travel to York for a noon start against the Cardinals.  Lehman dropped a hard fought 5-3 decision to Purchase in their final regular season match on Thursday afternoon.  The Lightning now stand at 3-9:2-1.  York enters the day 0-8 having lost to Brooklyn yesterday.  Action gets underway in Jamaica, NY at noon. 
 
The cross country teams will participate in the NJIT Highlander Challenge.  The women will run 5000m course while the men's course in extended to 8000m.  Both races will be contested at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.
