Bronx, NY– On December 28-29 the Lehman College Athletic Department will host their 11
th Annual Coaches vs Cancer basketball tournament in the APEX. Area residents and fans will be treated to four games on each day. On Thursday the Lightning women will tip-off the event as they play host to SUNY Canton at noon. That will be follow by the women's team from FDU Florham and the College of Mt. St. Vincent battling at 2:00 PM. At 4:00 PM the men take to the hardwood. Southern Maine will take on SUNY POLY in the first of two men's games. The nightcap will feature the Lightning and cross town rival the College of Mt. St. Vincent. On Friday the women's consolation (12:00 PM) game and championship (2:00 PM) will be followed by the men's consolation (4:00 PM) and championship (6:00 PM).
"This is the only time of the year in which we charge admission," commented Tournament Director
Eric Harrison. "All proceeds from the two day event will go to the American Cancer Society."

The Lightning have not played in more than two weeks, and now stand at 5-4 having dropped their last two. Lehman is being led by a quartet of players who have all averaged double figures.
Lynda Fields leads the way with a 14.1 points per game average.
Ayanna Behagen is chipping in 13.3 points and a team high 6.1 rebounds per game.

Aliyah Dorsett and averaging 11 points per night.
Canton comes to town with a record of 3-5 having also dropped their last two. Antanasia Chambers leads the Roos in both scoring and rebounding averaging 14.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.
The Devils of FDU own a 5-4 record. They have won three of their last four and are being led by Kendrea Williams. Williams, a sophomore guard is averaging 25 points per night. Gabrielle Harris and Bria Smith are chipping in 22 and 10 points per game respectively.
Rounding out the women's field is the College of Mt. St. Vincent. The Dolphins stand at 4-3 after dropping their last two to Skyline conference foes USMMA and Mt. St. Mary. Three players are averaging double figures for the Dolphins. Kristen Merrell, Kelly Nola and Kelly Oliver are averaging 13.9, 13.3 and 10.7 points per game respectively.
The Lightning men are 6-2 and winners of their last four.
Andrew Utate leads a quartet of players are averaging double figures. The senior swing man is netting just under 18 points per game. Sharp shooter
Mylo Mitchell is averaging 17 points per contest.
Luis Hernandez and
Jean Marcial are adding 14.6 and 10.5 points per game.
The College of Mt. St. Vincent is led by Ammad Alkhulaidi. The senior forward leads the team in scoring (12.6 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg). Raiquis Harris is also averaging double figures (11.9 ppg). After winning three of their last four, the Dolphins now sit at 4-4.
Southern Maine has struggled this season. After winning their first game of the season over the University of New England, the Huskies have dropped their last eight and now stand at 1-8. Christian McCue and Sean Jany are both averaging double figures. McCue is averaging a team best 12.9 points per contest while Jany is chipping in 11.2 points per game.
The Wildcats of SUNY Poly sit at 4-4 after dropping their last three games. Junior guard Redell Freeman leads them in scoring with a 22.3 points per game averaging. Josh Gregory and Kevin Williams are chipping in 15 points per night.
