New York – The Lehman College women's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games with a 70-36 victory at John Jay College on Tuesday night. The team improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in CUNYAC play.
The game was back-and-forth for the first three minutes of action before Lehman broke it open. Ahead 6-4, the Lightning used a 13-3 run to take a 19-7 lead. Five of the 13 points came from
Lynda Fields,
Aliyah Dorsett made a basket and
Ayanna Behagen accounted for the six other points. Lehman led 21-7 after a quarter.
A pair of
Selena Lopez foul shots inside of five minutes put the Lightning up by twenty, 30-10. A Behagen layup in the final minute of the second quarter put Lehman ahead by 29, 40-11. They lead 40-12 at the break.
A 13-0 run to open the third quarter give Lehman its largest lead, 41 points. The scoring spree was capped by a
Lillybeth Garcia steal and basket. Lehman led 60-23 after three quarters. They went on to win, 70-36.
Four players reached double-figures in scoring for the Lightning. Garcia scored a game-high 20 points. Behagen finished with 14 and nine rebounds. Dorsett had 14 points, while Fields totaled ten. The Lehman College women's basketball team returns to action on Friday, December 8, when they host Brooklyn College at 7PM.
