Box Score 2 Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team hosted CUNYAC foe Staten Island for their first home doubleheader of the season Saturday afternoon, but were defeated 16-0 in game one and 13-0 in game two at the South Field.
The Lightning (0-10) have now lost their first 10 games of the 2017 campaign.
In game one, the Dolphins (7-3) were led on the mound by Jacqueline Cautela, who along with Alison Meagher combined for a five-inning no-hitter with Cautela striking out seven batters.
The Staten Island offense jumped out of the gate against starter
Yaidee Nieves with three runs in the first inning, and then Patricia Riches connected on a grand slam in the second to extend the Lehman deficit. Riches had a big offensive game, totaling three home runs and 12 RBI over the two games.
Arlette Martinez was the lone Lehman player to reach base in game one on a walk, and then was able to steal a base.
Game two saw starting pitcher
Hailey Davila begin the game with two scoreless frames, but the Dolphins were relentless starting with four runs in the third, scoring a wild pitch then a Riches two-run single and another CSI RBI single. They would add three more runs in the third, then six in the fifth to cap off the scoring.
Julines Reynoso was able to break up the Nicolette Trapani no-hitter in the fifth for the Lightning with a base hit into right-center for the team's lone hit.
Lehman will return to action Monday afternoon when they host CUNYAC foe Hunter College for a doubleheader at the South Field. The first game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. followed by game two around 7:00 p.m. Live stats will be made available at LehmanAthletics.com
