Box Score 2 Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team were resilient in both games, coming back with seven runs in the sixth to win game one 13-7 and would push across four in the sixth of game two to sweep the doubleheader 18-14 Saturday afternoon at the South Field.
With the wins, the Lightning snap an eight-game losing streak to improve to 6-22. The Bearcats drop to 9-13 overall.
Maranda Diaz led the team with seven RBI across both games of the doubleheader, including five in game two. She capped off the performance with a bases-clearing double to extend the lead for good in game two.
Linda Resto also was a big part of the victory, driving in five runs over the two games including a bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning of game two which broke a 14-14 tie.
Genesis Paulino and
Caitlin Vernon plated two runs each in the twin-bill.

Yaidee Nieves earned the win in both contests (four wins this season), striking out six batters over the two games.
Lehman would take an early lead in game one, but would give up two in the top of the third to fall behind. They drove in three runs in the third to grab a one-run lead.
Trailing 7-6 in the sixth inning, the Lightning roared ahead with seven runs in the frame.
Andrelina Gil's two-run double started the offense, then Michaela Hamlett would reach on a fielder's choice to score her. Diaz drew a bases-loaded walk, then a fielder's choice and an error would finish the scoring. Nieves tossed a one-two-three seventh to capture the win.
Game two saw a wild offensive game, with runs being scored in each of the first five and a half innings. Lehman would score two in the first, three in the second, four in the third and five in the fourth to put their lead to 14-8.
Baruch would respond in the top of the fifth with six runs to knot the game up at 14. They would score off a bases-loaded walk along with a sacrifice fly, a Olivia Dellston two-run double and an error.
In the top of the seventh, Paulino led off with a ground-rule double. Gil would draw a walk, then
Labriska Charles was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Resto would bring in the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded walk, then Diaz roped a double down the left-field line to clear the bases. Nieves made quick work of the Bearcats for a one-two-three seventh to seal the victory.
The Lightning return to action tomorrow, seeking to build momentum off their back-to-back wins. They will travel to Jamaica for a road matchup against York (N.Y.). First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. for game one with the second game set for approximately 2:00 p.m.
