Box Score 2 Bellerose, N.Y. -- The Lehman College softball team were clicking on all cylinders in both games Sunday afternoon, scoring 14 runs in the top of the third to seal game one 18-3 and following up that performance scoring 23 runs while holding the York College Cardinals to one hit in game 2 in Bellerose, New York.
With the wins, the Lightning push their winning streak to four, and now have an overall record of 8-22 on the season, while the Cardinals continue to look for their first win of the season, sitting at 0-18.
Maranda Diaz continues to produce for the Lightning with 7 hits and 9 RBI's in total throughout the double header, including 6 RBI's in game two.
Maranda Diaz also stole home in game one, and hit a two run home run in game 2.
Linda Resto played a big part of the victories as well, with two hits in 3 at a bats to go with 3 RBI's highlighted by her second home run of the season.
Arlette Martinez notched four hits to go four for four in game one with 2 RBI's.
Yaidee Nieves earned the winning decision in each game, allowing a total of four hits and one run over both games.
In game one, Lehman scored 14 runs in the top of the third as 20 Lehman batters stepped to the plate highlighted by 10 hits in the inning. Two full innings later, the Lightning scored 3 insurance runs to close out game one 18-3 on a two run single by Diaz, and an RBI single by Martinez.
The Lightning carried over their production from game 1 scoring 14 more runs in the top of the second inning. Lehman scored 14 runs on 5 hits in the frame ignited by
Mikaela Hamlett hitting a leadoff double. Diaz's bases clearing triple made it a 10-0 game. Martinez's bunt single drove in Diaz, then
Caitlin Vernon singled to drive in Martinez to make it 12-0 Lehman. 3 more runs crossed the plate on 2 York College errors. The Lightning scored four more runs in the top of the third beginning with a two run home run by Diaz, followed by a Vernon triple, that scored Martinez. Nieves batted in Vernon with an RBI single to push the score to 19-0. In the following top inning,
Julines Reynoso's RBI single brought in
Karina Lora. Nieves drew the walk with the bases loaded scoring Merybell Martinez to make the score 21-0.
Micharey Almanzar added to the Lightning lead with an RBI single.

Andrelina Gil walked forcing in Reynoso to tally the Lightning's 23rd run of the game. Nieves finished out the game on the mound, earning the W in a one-hitter.
Lightning look to push the four game winning streak further when they return home on Monday in another double header beginning at 4:30 PM vs the Brooklyn Bulldogs. Game two is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM.
