New Rochelle, NY – The Lehman College (1-13)softball team dropped a pair of games to the College of New Rochelle (3-1), 14-6 and 12-8. 

The Blue Angles built up a 6-0 after three innings.  Lehman was able to get three runs back in the top of the fourth but CNR plated eight runs in the bottom half of the frame to push the lead to 14-3.  Lehman was able to plate three more runs in the fifth.  Four different players, Caitlin Vernon, Maranda Diaz, Andrelina Gil and Natasha Minier recorded hits.  Vernon and Gil also recorded rbis.   

In game two, the Lightning manufactured two runs in the top of the first but could not hold on.  The Blue Angels cut the deficit in half in their first at bat and then added five runs in the third to take a 6-2 lead.  The Lightning got two runs back in the top of the fourth but CNR answered with four of their own in the bottom half of the frame.  Lehman added a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth but it was not enough as the Blue Angels plated two runs in the fifth. Diaz and Yaidee Nieves were each credited with two hits and two runs scored.  Nieves went the distance striking out four and only giving up four earned runs. 

The Lightning are scheduled to host the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday and then travel back up to New Rochelle on Friday for a rematch with CNR.
