New Rochelle, NY – Lehman College (2-14) and the College of New Rochelle (4-2) split games on the softball diamond with the Blue Angles winning the opener 17-9 while the Lightning prevailed 15-7 in the nightcap. 

In game one, Lehman jumped out on top.  Lehman was up 2-1 after the first and both squads had big innings in the second.  The Lightning plated four runs while CNR scored five to tie the game at six.  The Blue Angels added a run in the third and two more in the fourth but the Lightning rallied for three in fifth to knot the game at nine.  CNR scored eight times in the sixth to earn the victory.  Jules Reynoso and Linda Resto each recorded a pair of hits in the first game. 

In the second game, Coach Van Nostrand gave the ball to Arlette Martinez in the circle.  Martinez, went the distance, earning her first win of the season.  The senior only gave up two hits and recorded three strike outs.  Freshman short stop Maranda Diaz was 3-for-4 with three rbi and three runs scored.  Natasha Minier was 4-for-4 with three rbi and three runs scored.  The Lightning scored a season high 15 runs on 11 hits; all singles.  With the game tied at five after two the Lightning took the lead in the top of third as Minier scored on a Reynoso ground out.  The Lightning generated two runs in the fourth to take an 8-5 lead.  The Lightning's big inning was the fifth as they sent 11 batters to the plate scoring seven times. The Blue Angels plated two in the bottom of the inning for the final score. 

Lehman is back in action on Monday.  The Lightning will host Valley Forge at 4:30 PM.
