Bronx, N.Y. - A pair of first half markers lifted the Lehman men's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout of Sarah Lawrence in the season-opener from the Bronx on Friday.
Salh Alzubidi scored twice for the Lightning.
Lehman controlled possession early, totaling three shots on goal in the first eight minutes of action. The game stayed scoreless into the 24
th minute, when the Lightning struck. A through ball from
Gentian Muhaxheri found Alzubidi on a breakaway, who scored.
Lehman doubled the score just ten minutes later.
Florent Mvogo played a ball into the box, and
Omar Moro tipped it past the Gryphon keeper for the second goal of the game. The score stayed at 2-0 into halftime.
The final goal of the contest came in the 69
th minute and was eerily similar to the first marker of the game. Muhaxheri connected with Alzubidi on another breakaway and the forward from New Rochelle, New York, found the back of the net for the second time. Sarah Lawrence never got on the scoreboard as the Lightning won 3-0.

Chris Mulholland made a save to help earn the clean sheet for the defense.
The Lehman College men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, September 6, when they face William Paterson University at 7PM from Wayne, New Jersey.
