Bronxville, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team defeated Sarah Lawrence College 9-0 to open the 2017 campaign in Bronxville, New York, on Friday. The team that reached the CUNYAC finals in 2016 is now 1-0 on the season.
The Lightning took the doubles flights, 3-0, dropping just two games during play. The team of
Lizaveta Markouskaya and
Celine Figueroa won at first doubles, 8-2. The combination of
Alana Bierman and
Yohara Molineros won their match 8-0. Finally, the pairing of
Leslie Juanacio and
Kiana Santana failed to drop a game in their 8-0 triumph.
Lehman took all six matches in singles play. Markouskaya won at first singles, 10-2. Bierman prevailed in her match by that same score. Molineros and Juanacio each lost just one game to take their matches by identical, 10-1 scores. Finally, Figueroa and Santana each prevailed by 10-0 scores.
The Lehman College women's tennis team looks for its second-straight win when it returns to action on Saturday, September 2, when the Lightning welcome Albertus Magnus College to the Bronx for a 1PM start.
