Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team dropped its home opener to Albertus Magnus College 7-2, on Saturday in the Bronx. The Lightning are now 1-1 after sweeping Sarah Lawrence College on Friday.
Lehman took the first doubles flight, 8-2 as
Sacha Espiritu teamed with
Lizaveta Markouskaya to earn the win. The combination of
Celine Figueroa and
Leslie Juanacio won three games but dropped their flight, 8-3. The pairing of
Alana Bierman and
Yohara Molineros lost 8-0.
Espiritu was also victorious in singles play, winning from the first position, love and two. Markouskaya put up a strong effort from second singles, falling 6-4, 7-5. The other singles matches all went to Albertus Magnus by scores of 6-0 & 6-0, 6-2 & 6-3, 6-2 & 6-0 and 6-1 & 6-1.
Rochelle Walker and
Nadia Baba saw their first action of the season as well.
The Lehman College women's tennis team returns to the hardcourt on Tuesday, September 12, when they host St. Joseph's at 4:30 PM.
