Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Improves to 7-3 Overall with 5-0 Shutout of Baruch

New York - The Lehman College men's soccer team put a stranglehold on the top spot in the CUNYAC with a 5-0 shutout of Baruch from Randall's Island on Saturday.  The team improved to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in CUNYAC play.  The setback was the first loss of the season in conference for the Bearcats.

Lehman opened the scoring just two minutes into action courtesy of a free kick.  Adewale Adewusi connected with Kastriot Qerimi in the box who scored.  The game went to 2-0, Lightning, at 22:13, when Nabi Ben Bangoura.  Less than two minutes later, Salh Alzubidi got his name on the ledger, finishing a through ball from Qerimi.  Alzubidi would record his second goal of the game at 26:10, beating the keeper in a one-on-one ball.  The Lightning built a 4-0 lead on three goals in a six minute span.

Lehman capped the scoring early in the second half, when Shevante Scott capitalized on a ball that was misplayed by the Baruch keeper.  Scott's cleaning of the mess made the score 5-0 for the Lightning, which was the final.

Alzubidi's two markers gave him a total of 11 for the year, tops in the conference.  He also leads the CUNYAC with 22 points.  Chris Mulholland made nine saves for Lehman and combined with Abdulmumin Ayoub to record the clean sheet.

The Lehman College men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, October 4, when they face York College in Jamaica, New York.  The kickoff is scheduled for 4PM.
