Box Score Queens, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team posted its second-straight shutout, this one a 5-0 victory over York, in a CUNYAC game played at Aviator Field on Wednesday. The team has outscored its opponents 10-0 in the last two games.
There was no scoring in the first half. Then the scoring frenzy came. In the 56
th minute,
Shevante Scott played a through ball to
Salh Alzubidi for his team-best 12
th goal of the season. He would record his 13
th six-and-a-half minutes later when he got his head on a free kick from Abdaulaye Bassirou. This was Alzubidi's fifth multi-goal game of the season and his second straight.
The score went to 3-0 Lightning at 70:59 when
Alfons Bujaj headed in a cross from
Adewale Adewusi. Less than seven minutes later,
Omar Moro found
Ardit Belegu who scored and made it 4-0, Lehman. The final tally came at 85:28 when
Kastriot Qerimi scored off a corner kick from
Gentian Muhaxheri.
With the win, the Lightning are 8-3 overall and 5-0 in the CUNYAC. They are also 7-1 in their last eight contests.
Chris Mulholland made a pair of saves to preserve his second-straight clean sheet.
The Lehman College men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 7 when they host John Jay at 1:30. This game is the second game of a doubleheader that features the women's soccer team hosting York at 11AM.
