The Lightning got 21 points from
Lynda Fields but it wasn't enough as Lehman (8-8:4-3) fell 81-64 to Hunter (12-3:5-1) in a CUNYAC women's basketball contest.
Lehman jumped out to an 8-2 lead and built the lead to 16-9 after a
Lisa Fields fast break layup with just over six minutes to play in the opening quarter. The Hawks battled back and cut the deficit to four 22-18 at the end of the first quarter. With the Lightning clinging to a one point lead the Hawks would score six straight points to take a 34-29 lead with 2:23 to play in the half. Hunter followed that spurt with an 8-3 run to take a 42-32 advantage at intermission.
In the second half, the Hawks were able to extend their lead. Hunter pushed the lead up to 23 points before settling on a 67-50 lead after three quarters. The Lightning were able the cut the lead to 15 on several occasions in the fourth but could not get any closer.
Selena Lopez and
Lisa Fields added 13 and 11 points for the Lightning.
Marlena Budna came off the bench to pace the Hawks with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Lehman will be back in action on Wednesday night as they host Medgar Evers at 5:30 PM in the APEX.
