Bronx, N.Y. - The Lehman College women's basketball team got back above .500 with an 84-40 win over Medgar Evers in a game played in the Bronx on Wednesday. The team improved to 5-3 in CUNYAC play as well.
The Lightning jumped out to a 13-0 lead thanks to six points from
Ayanna Behagen, five points from
Aliyah Dorsett and a basket from
Lynda Fields. Lehman never looked back from there. The team led 31-14 after one quarter and 52-25 at the half. The largest lead for the Lightning came at the 2:06 mark in the fourth when a
Lisa Fields three-pointer made the score 84-40.
Lehman had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures.
Lynda Fields led the team with 23 points and eight assists. Dorsett totaled 20 on 10-20 shooting. Despite being in foul trouble for most of the game, Behagen shot 7-8 and totaled 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Denisa Lamenca shot 3-4 to finish with six points in her most productive game of the season. The 40 points allowed was the second-fewest to any opponent this season.
The Lehman College women's basketball team returns to action on Friday, January 19, when they host CCNY at 1PM.
