Lightning Roll over Valley Forge ....... Score a Season High 108

Bronx, NY - Luis Hernandez netted a career high 34 points, 25 of which were in the first half, as the Lightning improved to 11-4 with a 108-82 victory over Valley Forge (0-8).  Hernandez was near perfect on the season as he was 11-12 from the field, 7-7 behind the arc and 5-6 from the foul line.

Jean Marcial added 12, Mylo Mitchell, 11 and Andrew Utate and Tevon Bennett added 10 points apiece as all 16 players on the Lightning roster saw playing time and 15 of which scored.

Lehman was red hot in the first twenty minutes as the Lightning shot an impressive 22-36 (.611) from the field.

With the game tied at five, the Lightning went on a 7-0 run to take control of the contest.  Still with just a seven point advantage 32-25 with 7:43 to play in the half the Lightning caught fire and outscored the Patriots 29-16 the rest of the half to extend the lead to twenty.   Lehman cooled off in the second half but were still on cruise control most of the second half as Valley Forge never threatened.  The Lightning were able to extend the lead to 37 midway through the second half before settling on the final margin of victory.

Gabe Lorenzo caught up with Coach Schulman after the game.  Here is what he had to say.

The Lightning defense smothered Patriots leading scorer Alex Sanchez all afternoon.  The senior from Orlando, FL only tallied nine points while below his season average of 24.  Lehman was also able to force 20 turnovers while only turning the ball over nine times.

Lehman returns to the hardwood on Wednesday night as they host Medgar Evers at 7:30 PM in the APEX.
