Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team won its fourth-straight game on Wednesday courtesy of a 93-68 triumph over Medgar Evers College in a CUNYAC contest from the Bronx. The team improved to 12-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
The Lightning led by 20 points at the half. They jumped out to an 11-2 lead to open the game and never looked back.
Luis Hernandez scored four of his 15 points in that stretch. The guard shot 7-10 in the game.
Tevon Bennett totaled six points and
Jean Marcial added a basket. Lehman never relinquished the lead and eventually built a 22-point cushion in the half, when
John Brens found Bennett on a layup to make the score 44-22 with 1:25 left.
The largest lead of the game – 32 points – came when Brens led another fast break and found
Miguel Haboosh, who buried a three-pointer. The freshman from Uruguay had 11 points. Lehman won, 93-68.
The Lightning bench outscored the Cougars 44-16 as Haboosh (11) and Brens (ten) each reached double figures in scoring.
Paris Underwood also came off the pine to score nine.
Tevon Bennett earned the start and scored a career-best 18 points and reached double-figures in scoring for the second-straight game.
Clinton Akalonu had a strong game inside, finishing with six rebounds, three blocks and four steals.
The Lehman College men's basketball team returns to action on Friday, January 19, when they host CCNY at 3PM. That is the second half of a doubleheader with the women getting underway at 1PM.
