Paterson, N.J. – The Lehman College swimming and driving teams dropped a pair of close matches to William Paterson University in a dual meet in New Jersey on Saturday. The men fell by a score of 108-98, while the Pioneers bested the women, 106-98.
Leading the way for the women were a pair of familiar names,
Sarina Eshtiaghi and
Yaidee Nieves. They were both part of the winning 200 medley relay team (2:06.29). Individually, Eshtiaghi prevailed in the 100 back (1:03.65), while Nieves won the 100 breast (1:24.34). Also,
Angela Mejia took first in the 200 IM with a winning time of 2:38.83. The final event of the meet, the 200 free relay, also went to the Lightning. The combination of Eshtiaghi,
Christina Hitchman, Mejia and Nieves posted a winning mark of 1:55.98.
The won both relays as the team of
Christopher Fischer,
Anton Kyrylenko,
Adam Acevedo and
Daniel O'Neill took care of the 200 medley (1:50.40), while they pairing of
Quaylan Barker, William Marlin, Steven Reyes and
Herman Rodriguez triumphed in the 200 free relay with a clocking of 1:40.43. Individually,
Ryan Sanchez won the 100 back in a time of 1:07.41.
Hugo Barrera took first in the 500 free with a mark of 6:42.23, over one minute ahead of the second-place finisher. Finally, Kyrlyenko won the 100 breast in a time of 1:07.77.
The Lehman College swimming and diving teams return to the pool on Tuesday, January 16, when they face York College in CUNYAC competition from Queens. The action gets underway at 6PM.
