Jamaica, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming and diving teams picked up a pair of CUNYAC wins with a sweep of York College on Tuesday in Jamaica, Queens. The men defeated the Cardinals, 96-79, while the women prevailed, 91-66.
Leading the way for the men was
Anton Kyrylenko. The freshman from the Bronx prevailed in a pair of races. He won the 200 IM in a time of 2:40.02 and triumphed in the 800 free with a clocking of 10:56.24. Fellow freshman
Juan Rodriguez swam to a top finish in the 100 back with a mark of 1:19.25. A pair of juniors,
Christopher Fischer and
Ryan Sanchez east won a race as well. Fischer bested the field in the 50 free (0:27.32), while Sanchez won the 200 free (2:25.89).
Adam Acevedo, the current CUNYAC Swimmer of the Week, lived up to the lofty expectations with a victory in the 100 fly (1:05.85). Finally, the grouping of
Daniel O'Neill,
Rinaldi Hernandez,
Chad Padayogdog and
Raymond Burdier took first in the 200 medley relay with a winning time of 2:19.36.
On the women's side,
Sarina Eshtiaghi continued her dominant season with three victories in all. She took the 800 free (11:26.15) and 200 IM (3:04.74) and teamed with
Yaidee Nieves,
Teresa Hernandez and
Christina Hitchman to prevail in the 200 medley relay (2:51.75). Nieves also won the 100 butterfly (1:36.82), while Hitchman took the 200 free (3:00.71). Finally,
Angela Mejia picked up a victory with a time of :29.35 in the 50 free.
With the win, the men improved to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the CUNYAC. They return to the pool on Monday, January 22, when they host St. Joseph's College at 7PM. The women picked up their first conference win (1-4) and jumped to 3-7 overall. They next compete on Friday, January 19, when they host John Jay College at 6PM.
