Men’s Soccer Secure CUNYAC Playoff Berth With 2-0 Win Against CCNY

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team secured a CUNYAC Postseason berth on Wednesday after defeating CCNY, 2-0, in its final regular season home game at South Field.  The Lightning improve to 6-8-1 record and 4-3-1 CUNYAC, while the Beavers fall to 2-10-1 and 2-5 in conference play.

Wednesday's encounter also bid farewell to three seniors - defender Rafael Emiliano, midfielder Ralph Jean and forward Sahl Alzubidi whom all played their final regular season game at home with Lightning's uniform.

After a scoreless first half, midfielder Marcus Folks got Lehman on the board in 53rd minute-mark scoring his first of the season.  The tally also ended a streak of 473 consecutive minutes without a goal scored by the Lightning.

Alzubidi closed out the scoring for Lehman in the 78th minute with his sixth goal of the campaign off an assist by midfielder Eduardo Victorio for the 2-0 final.

Lightning goalkeeper Chris Mulholland stopped all five shots on goal by the Beavers to earn his fourth shutout of the year.

Lehman, which needs to wait a few other CUNYAC results this week to determine if it will hosts a playoff match, concludes the 2018 regular season with a non-conference match-up at New York University on Saturday.
