Bronx, NY – The Lehman College men's and women's swim teams defeated Brooklyn College 105-93 (men) and 102-88 (women) in a CUNYAC dual meet at the APEX Pool. With the victories the men improve to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The women now stand at 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the CUNYAC.
Chris Fischer claimed victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.59 and the 100 freestyle in a time of 53.20. In one of the closest races of the night Cesar Zungia earned the top spot in the 100 Butterfly posting a 1:04.25 out touching his competitor from Brooklyn by less than a quarter of a second.
Hugo Barrera prevailed in the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:55.03. Fischer and Barrera teamed up with
Anton Kyrylenko and
Rinaldi Hernandez to win the 200 freestyle relay.
Sarina Eshtiaghi once again prevailed in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:19.57. The Mamaroneck native also captured the 200 Individual Medley in a time of 2:27.62. In her third event of the night she also claimed victory in the 500 freestyle in a time of 6:14.06.
Christina Hitchman was victorious in the 50 freestyle with a time of 29.95 and the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:11.19. The Lightning quartet of
Arizbeth Alvarez,
Patricia Gonzalez,
Sheila Davila and Hitchman stood atop of the podium in the 200 freestyle relay posting a 2:09.12.
Both Lightning squads will take a month off for the holidays and will be back in action on January 10, 2019 as they continue CUNYAC competition at Baruch.
