Bronx, N.Y. – Three Lehman College athletic teams will be back in action at The APEX on Tuesday as women's basketball side host Old Westbury, while men's & women's swimming and diving squads welcome Brooklyn College in a CUNYAC dual meet.
The Lightning swimmers will be aiming for their first CUNYAC victory of the season when they take on the Bulldogs at The APEX Pool at 6 pm. Lehman men have a 3-3 overall record and 0-1 CUNYAC, while women's squad has a 3-5 mark and 0-2 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn men's team currently has a 2-1 ledger and 0-0 CUNYAC, while the women's side is 1-4 and 0-1 in conference play.
Lehman and Brooklyn are both coming off dual meet losses last week. The Lightning lost on the road against CUNYAC rival College of Staten Island (men 96-122; women 74-117) last Friday, while the Bulldogs were beaten in a non-conference meet at William Paterson on Saturday (men 77-92; women 69-97).
Lehman men have beaten Brooklyn in eight consecutive dual meets going back to November 16, 2010. The last meeting between the two sides took place on Nov. 30, 2017, at Brooklyn's West Quad Center, with the Lightning edging out the hosts, 119-115.
Ryan Sanchez won 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:20.13, while he also prevailed in the 500 freestyle clocking in at 5:56.88.
Christopher Fischer posted the fastest time in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.97.
Meanwhile, the Lehman women have won three of the last four meets against Brooklyn. The previous encounter, the Bulldogs ended a three-game losing streak against the Lightning with a 108-103 home victory on Nov. 30, 2017.
Sarina Eshtiaghi and
Christina Hitchman led the way for Lehman as both were part of the relay team that won the 200 medley (2:16.55). Eshtiaghi also won 200 individual medley (2:24.90) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.45), while Hitchman captured the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 28.67 and 1:07.62, respectively.
Also on Tuesday, the Lightning women's hoopsters (1-6, 1-2 CUNYAC) square off against Old Westbury Panthers (7-1, 2-1 Skyline) in a non-conference match-up at The APEX Main Gym at 7 pm. Fans unable to make the trip to campus can follow all of women's basketball action on line via

Lehman is coming off a 75-47 CUNYAC loss at York College-NY last Friday. Guard
Lisa Fields led the Lehman offense with 16 points, while forward
Nia Watson had 12 points and seven rebounds. Forward
Eriadna Vasquez also added seven points and 10 boards. Meanwhile, Old Westbury visits The APEX after dropping its first encounter of the season, 62-52, against conference rival Mount St. Mary's College-NY, last Saturday.
The Lightning have won two of the last three meetings against the Panthers, with the previous encounter taking place on January 6, 2015, at Old Westbury's Clark Athletic Center with Lehman posting a 74-58 victory.
