Bronx, NY – The Lehman College women's team dropped 77-30 decision to the University of Wisconsin Platteville in the Consolation game of the 2018 Coaches vs Cancer Tournament. DeSales upended Trinity 70-66 to capture the championship trophy.
Lehman struggled to find the shooters touch during today's opening game. The Lightning were held scoreless the first seven minutes of the contest and then again the first seven minutes of the second quarter.
Lisa Fields paced the Lightning with 23 points while playing the entire 40 minutes. With the loss the Lightning fall to 1-9. Lehman will return to action on Thursday as they play host to Kean at 5 PM.
Morgan Horstman and Maiah Domask led the Pioneers with 13 points apiece.
In the final, DeSales was led by Birmelin with 20 on 8-14 shooting from the field. Averi Jordan added 13 points while Leandra Sterener added 10 beforing leaving the game with an injury. Trinity was paced by Becky Reifler's 17 points.
The Ray Rankis MVP award was presented to Morgan Birmelin of DeSales (pictured). Joining her on the All-Tournament Team were;
