Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team extended its winning streak against Medgar Evers College to 11 consecutive games after posting an 84-76 home victory in a CUNYAC encounter at The APEX Main Gym on Tuesday evening. The Lightning improve to 3-3 overall record and 1-1 in CUNYAC, while the Cougars drop to 2-6 mark and 1-1 in conference play.
Lehman took a 50-36 lead at the intermission after shooting 55 percent from the field and 83 percent from the free throw line, while Medgar struggled in the first half with 36% and 67%, respectively.
In the second half, the Cougars improved their shooting, while the Lighting faltered and were able to cut the lead to just two points (70-68) with 6:08 remaining. Lehman went on an 8 to 3 run in the next four minutes to pull away and eventually hold on for the victory.
Forward
Xavier Boyd led four Lightning players in double-figures as he posted 16 points. Center Raheim Grant scored a Lehman-high 15 points, while forward
Isaiah Geathers had 14 points with seven rebounds. Guard
Jaquan Strong also added 13 points for the Lightning.
Lehman continue CUNYAC play on Friday as it travels to take on York College-NY.
