Bronxville, NY - Earlier today the Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team upended Lehman 84-73 in the Campbell Athletic Center on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College.
After the Lightning jumped out to a 14-10 lead through the first seven minutes the Gryphons went on a a 14-2 run over the next four minutes to take a lead that they would not surrender. Sarah Lawrence led by as many as 17 points points before the Lightning battled back cutting the lead to six, 43-37 at the half. Lehman was still hanging tough and was able to cut the deficit to one, 65-64 after an Xavier Boyd baby jumper in the paint with 6:10 remaining. Unfortunately, the Lightning were never able to recapture the lead falling to 4-4. Sarah Lawrence improves to 6-5.
Jacquan Strong came off the bench to lead the Lightning with 18 points. Boyd added 12 points while Isaiah Geathers registered 10 points a team high six rebounds.
The Lightning will take 20 days off before returning to action to hosting the annual Coaches vs Cancer Tournament on December 28-29.
