At the annual CUNYAC Cheerleading completion Surelle Santos came away with the top honors in the jumping competition as she edged out a competitor from BMCC. Michelle Ramirez earned Rookie of the Year honors and Juliette St. Fleur was named the Coach of the Year.
Santos, a junior, scored a 17.14 in the jumps competition to secure the top spot. A resident of Manhattan, Santos has been a member of the squad for the past three season and is a graduate of Broome Street Academy.
In her first season with the squad Michelle Ramirez has been as dedicated as they come. The Bronx native is a graduate of Bronx LGJ.
Fourth year head coach Juliette St. Fleur was named Coach of the Year. A former track runner at Lehman, it was the second time she took home the honor.
As a team the Lightning took home the bronze finishing in third place behind CSI and John Jay. The competition took place in Jamaica, NY at York College.
