May 12 would have been the 68^th Annual Student Athlete Awards Banquets.  For the next couple of weeks will be begin to unveil the team awards from the 2019-20 year.
 
Head Cheerleading Coach Natalie Leon has announced that this year's Cheer team MVP is Jazira Encarnation and the Coach's Award winner is Brittany Aubain. 
 
Encarnacion is a native of the Bronx and graduate of HERO High School.  The junior is always giving 100% for her team and consistently pushing herself past her limits.  She does not believe in the word "can't"; it isn't in her vocabulary. Her strength in stunting and in performing outshines any other member.  Jazira is always working on new skills and encouraging her teammates to keep pushing even when things seem impossible. During basketball games, she is always seen giving the most encouragement, shouting with all her power, and usually always ending the game without a voice. Aside from cheering for Lehman College, she is also a member of the first all-star cheerleading team in Brooklyn, Iconic Cheer Elite. There is no doubt that Jazira Encarnacion deserves to be our 2019-2020 Lehman College Athletics MVP.
 
 
Aubain has been selected as the Coach's Award winner for her extreme dedication and spirit throughout her first season on the team. With a previous background in cheerleading and dance, the Bronx native and Eximius College Prep graduate, has shown amazing skill and technique in cheering, performing and stunting. Her encouragement and performance at our home basketball games are spectacular and represent exactly what we look for on the team. Apart from being extremely focused and dedicated, she is unbelievably caring and supportive to each and every one of her teammates.
