Baseball Drops Doubleheader at Vassar

Poughkeepsie, NY - The Lehman College baseball team suffered a pair of losses in a doubleheader at Vassar on Sunday.  They dropped the opener, 9-4 and fell in game two, 9-1.  The team is now 14-17 on the year.

The Brewers took the opener 9-4.  They had a 2-0 lead after an inning, but the Lightning tied the score with two unearned runs in the second.  Mark Vargas, David Rodriguez and Carlo Francisco all had hits for Lehman in that frame. The Lightning pushed two more across in the fifth.  Namir Garcia led off with a base hit.  Rob Kiernan was hit by a pitch.  Two batters later, Julius Puryear was hit by a pitch and the bases were loaded.  Vargas singled home Kiernan and Zerbo scored on a Rodriguez sacrifice fly.

Game two went to Vassar, 9-1.  Despite getting 11 hits, the Lightning managed just one run.  Nataneal Toribio would single and come in to score on a Euriel Murray infield hit.

The Lehman College baseball team returns to action on Tuesday, April 24, when they cross the Hudson River to face New Jersey City University in a game played in Jersey City at 3:30 PM.
