Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College swimming teams swept a CUNYAC Dual Meet against visiting York College-NY at The APEX Pool on Tuesday as men's side won 85-72, while the women posted 79-55 triumph.
The Lightning men conclude the regular season with an 5-5 overall record and 2-2 mark in CUNYAC. Lehman women's side improve to 5-7 ledger and 2-3 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Cardinals men's team remain winless (0-3; 0-1 CUNYAC), while the women go to records of 1-7 and 0-3 in conference play.
Lehman won a combined 10 events (eight – individual; two team relays) on Tuesday as
Christopher Fischer and
Ryan Sanchez, whom were competing in their last regular season meet with the Lightning, led the men's side as they won the 1000 freestyle (11:12.76) and 200 individual medley (2:33.27), respectively. Fischer, Sanchez also joined
Anton Kyrylenko and
Rinaldi Hernandez as they captured the 200 medley relay at a time of 1:53.58.
Lehman also took a sweep of men's freestyle events as
Raymond Burdier finished first in the 50 (26.48), while
Daniel O'Neill took the 100 (1:01.00) and
Hugo Barrera the 200 (2:10.54).
On the women's side,
Christina Hitchman led the way capturing the 100 and 200 freestyle events clocking in at 1:12.91 and 2:42.80, respectively.
Diwa Rana won her first event taking the 50 freestyle (34.82), while
Sheila Davila finished on top at the 100 butterfly (1:43.59.).
The Lightning team of
Arizbeth Alvarez,
Citalli Cureno,
Arlette Garcia-Estudillo and
Lizaveta Markouskaya claimed first prize at the 200 freestyle relay with time of 2:28.16.
Rounding out the events, four-time CUNYAC Swimmer of the Week,
Sarina Eshtiaghi clocked in at 5:50.91 during an exhibition at combined 500 freestyle that was a Lehman record best time since 1977 (5:58.00).
The Lightning women conclude their regular season at The APEX Pool when they hosts CUNYAC rival John Jay College on Friday at 6 pm.
