Jamaica, NY – The Lehman College women's tennis squad improved to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the CUNYAC defeating York (0-7:0-5) to secure the fourth seed in the upcoming CUNYAC post season tournament which begins this weekend.
Today's match was the regular season finale for the Lightning who now won their last four. The number one doubles team of
Lizaveta Markouskaya and
Diwa Rana had little problem cruising to an 8-1 victory. In the third spot
Joanna Rosario and
Leslie Juanacio prevailed 8-2. Rounding out doubles play,
Celine Figueroa and
Cien Estuye also won by the score of 8-4.
In singles play, Rana (#2) and Estuye (#6) each won at love. Juanacio, playing out of the five hole, earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Figueroa playing third singles prevailed 6-0, 6-1.
Yohara Molineros captured the fourth singles match by the score of 6-2, 6-0. York was able to pick up a point at first singles in what was a very competitive match that saw Markouskaya fall 5-7, 4-6 to Geraldine Guese of York.
As of results from other action around the CUNYAC this weekend, the Lightning will host fifth seed Brooklyn. The match is scheduled for Sunday.
