Bronx, N.Y. – Forward
Mubarak Ouro scored with five minutes remaining to lift the Lehman College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Hunter College in a CUNYAC encounter on Wednesday at South Field. The win improves the Lightning overall record to 8-3 and 3-1 in CUNYAC, while the Hawks drop to a 2-6-1 mark and 1-1 in conference play.
Lehman dominated most of the first half outshooting Hunter 7-4, despite several rain showers that made the field very tough for both sides. Three of Lightning shots were on target which forced the Hawks goalkeeper Antony Simos to make three key saves.
In the second half, Lehman continued to pressure the Hunter defense await any chance to score. The opportunity came in the 85
th minute, when Ouro took advantage of a crucial mistake by netminder Simos as he misjudged a ball and slipped on the pitch just outside the 18-yard box and Bronx native shot into an empty net.
Lightning goalkeeper
Adrian Magana-Santos had to make just one save in the encounter for his third complete shutout of the season.
Lehman is back in action next Monday (October 7
th) when it travels to take on former CUNYAC member College of Staten Island at 4 pm.
