Bronx, NY – The Lehman College women's volleyball squad stepped out of CUNYAC play hosting Western Connecticut and unfortunately came out on the wrong end of a 3-0 decision with the Colonials. With the victory the Colonials improve to 12-3 and are now sporting a seven match winning streak. The Lightning fall to 2-14.
Ariana Pradieu led the Lightning attack with four kills while
Heder Rodriguez paced the way with seven assists. Chrissy Tran recorded a team high 10 digs. For the Colonials, Ali Brochu paced the offense with seven kills while Rory McMaster was credited with 23 assists. Taylor Rohan added three blocks.
In the first set, West Conn ran off seven points in a row to take a 9-5 advantage. Leading by three at 15-12, the Colonials again went run to push the advantage to 21-12 cruising to a first set victory 25-13. In the second set, West Conn jumped out to a 7-2 lead and never looked back. The Lightning struggled all set falling 25-7. The Colonials scored the first five points of the third set. However, Lehman would continue to battle cutting the deficit to three, at 12-9. West Conn would go on a 10-1 run to take control going onto earn the straight set victory with a score of 25-11.
The Lightning return to action on Saturday as the travel to Long Island to participate in the St. Joseph's College Tri-Match along with Albertus Magnus College. West Conn travels to Keene, NH to battle Keene State and Westfield St.
