Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team split a home twin-bill on Thursday evening when it lost to University of Valley Forge but defeated Medgar Evers College at The APEX Main Gym.
The Lightning (4-20) opened the doubleheader with a 3-1 loss (25-22, 21-25, 12-25, 16-25) to Patriots of Valley Forge (6-20) in the opener. Lehman won the first set but then dropped the three straight.
Franchesca Acevedo led the offense for Lightning with 16 kills, along with three service aces and eight digs.
Heder Rodriguez also dished out 17 assists, while grabbing 16 digs for Lehman in the loss.
In the nightcap, the Lightning defeated the Cougars of Medgar Evers, 3-1, (19-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-20). Acevedo once again paced Lehman with 18 kills, while
Yari Peguero grabbed 26 digs and
Ariana Pradieu added 21 digs for the victory.
The Lightning will have their regular season home finale on Saturday when they take on Sarah Lawrence College at noon.
