Tommy Batista the Lightning men's basketball team fell 77-58 to St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn).
An
Alex Hanson lay-up on Lehman's (1-3) first possession of the game gave the Lightning a short lived lead however, it would be their last as the Bears (2-1) scored five unanswered points to take a lead they would not surrender. With the Bears leading by two (10-8) they ran off 11 straight points to take command of the contest. The Lightning trimmed the lead to nine (21-12) after a
Tommy Batista free throw with seven minutes remaining in the half but the Bears held firm and extended the lead to 37-23 at halftime. Four minutes into the second half the Lightning once again got the lead down to nine after
Isaiah Geathers drained a pair of free throws. St. Joseph's proceeded go on a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Gian Batista recorded his first double double for the Lightning as he added 13 rebounds to his 13 points to go along with five assists.
As a team the Lightning continued to struggle shooting the ball converting 21 of 61 attempts (33.9%) from the field, 3-21 (14.3%) from behind the arc and 13-27 (48.1%) from the charity stripe.
The Lightning return to action Tuesday night with a trip to Purchase, NY to face the Panthers in a non-league game.
